Surgical Hearing Correction
At times, hearing loss may occur because of a process that is correctable with a surgical procedure. During the complete hearing evaluation at The Dallas Ear Institute, each patient is tested to ensure that they do not have hearing loss that can be corrected with a procedure. This is part of the complete coordinated approach you can expect with our ear physicians and licensed audiologists caring for your hearing.
When there is a hearing loss that is correctable with a procedure, your doctor will discuss the various options for improvement of your hearing. There are conditions that may cause a conductive hearing loss, or a hearing loss caused by the tiny bones in the middle ear or defects in the eardrum, that can be corrected with surgery. Various implants may be utilized within the middle to reconstruct the normal structures that allow us to hear.
